YUNXUAN LIN
The
Silent Whale
Over the past five years, much time seemed wasted—or perhaps only “wasted” in quotes. Without those experiences, rapid growth would not have been possible, nor the awareness that thoughts had long been tangled like feet caught in seaweed.
In the most painful moments, life felt like a whale trapped in a cage. Even within the vast ocean, with sustenance available, the freedom to explore and move remained lost. Such a sense of confinement reveals that resources and environment alone do not define freedom; true freedom arises from within. The cage is never necessarily made of iron bars—it is a wall built outside the mind.
